Great achievements often have very humble beginnings. This is certainly the case for ChangeNetSA.
The Blue Bag project, started five years ago by Justice and Anita Scott, soon became the flagship of the umbrella body known as ChangeNetSA. This simple but powerful concept started with community members folding and branding the blue bags, more community members bringing used clothing in the supplied blue bags, getting paid for their contribution, and ended in a huge warehouse from where the clothing is sold individually in the shop or in bales to countrywide agents. This income in turn helps NPOs and people in dire situations, like a burnt down house.
This project cascaded into New Beginnings, a safe haven for people in difficult circumstances, as well as the Autism Lighthouse on the same premises. Meals on Wheels Bethlehem is also run from there.
More platforms are in progress, and this model of taking care of the community by the community, through their schools, churches and businesses, is now being introduced nationally.
On a day like 25 September, when PG Glass organised a bowls tournament, it was as clear as day that, what ChangeNetSA is setting as the example, is the way to take SA forward. This photo signifies the coming together of all sections of our community, with the common goal of helping everybody.
Is it an easy load to take onto our shoulders? No, definitely not. Is it worth it to even try? Absolutely. But it is not in our own human hands. Each idea and each step are put before our Heavenly Father, and He shows the way… “Every great story happened when someone decided not to give up.” (Unknown) Small beginnings and perseverance together create great achievements.
