When Literature, Business and Charity meet

Melandrie Bossert, a Grade 7 learner from Jordania Primary, is a passionate lover of books and reading.

She is focused on her books like other teenagers are focused on their cell phones. She reads mainly classics, like Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. She is furthermore in the process of writing the third of her own English fiction books.

She is also a business person in the making. Her family members are all entrepreneurs at heart, where she is being taught the principles of business. She is also blessed with a caring heart and a concern for those less fortunate. She has found a way to live out her literary passion, contribute to charity and make some income for herself.

Melandrie sells second-hand books at the Affi-Aarde market once a month. She sources the books from the ChangeNetSA Poverty Crusaders Warehouse. She buys the books from the Warehouse and sells them at a profit. In this way she contributes to the charity income of the Warehouse, she makes money for herself and... she can bless other people by sharing her love for reading and books at the market.

This is truly a commendable set of life skills and a real win-win situation!
